At Riverside, we believe that the church belongs firmly in the heart of the community. We love getting our wellingtons on, our hands dirty and our spades out of the shed, all to show God’s love to the people around us. After all, why would God give us a new life if he didn’t want us out there living it?

In the last year alone, we’ve sung carols, delivered Christmas presents, made cream teas, enjoyed our second community fun-day, dug gardens, picked up litter, painted toilets, sheds and walls, and even renovated a primary school playground.

Our vision is to see Riverside as a centre that is not only of value to those around us coming in, but that the centre should be seen as a welcoming and outreaching base for people of all walks of life to experience something of God’s love.

We are involved in a range of programs and outreach activities and support a variety of initiatives and organisations concerned with reaching out to communities with the love of Jesus:

Faithworks

Faithworks exists to empower and inspire individual Christians and every local church to develop their role at the hub of their community. Faithworks will challenge and change the public perception of the Church by engaging both media and government. Faithworks will actively encourage unity and partnership to meet the needs of local communities.

Hope 2008

Hope 2008 is an initiative of the churches of Britain and Ireland which is helping to demonstrate Christian faith in action and to explain the meaning of that faith in villages, towns and cities throughout the UK.

Engage

The aim of Engage is to make a contribution to seeing each local church in the UK engage with its community in credible and relevant ways, primarily though not exclusively through issues related to family and to increase the amount of effective family ministry in the British Isles.
