The Foundation

Riverside Church is built around the following five solid biblical foundations, the Great News of Jesus Christ, the Word of God, the Power of the Holy Spirit, the Importance of Prayer and a Life of Faith.

Everyone who attends our church is actively encouraged to build their lives on these core values, not just by paying lip service or just attending services, but by developing good habits which will lead into living an effective God centred lifestyle.

Gospel Living Lifestyle

In Matthew it says that Jesus travelled through all the cities and villages of that area, teaching and announcing the Great News about the Kingdom(Matt 9:35).

It’s time for the church to demonstrate a Gospel Living Lifestyle by touching our world with the great news of Jesus and showing acts of love in the community we live! The reality is we need to ‘Keep the main thing, the main thing!’

We want to present every man, woman and child in our community, Exeter & the South west with an opportunity to hear, understand and respond to the Great News of Jesus Christ.

We want to do that by working on social action projects and reaching out into our community. I would like to see every partner getting involved in local, national or global mission at least once a year

Bible Believing Lifestyle

In Timothy it says that the Bible is the inspired word of God (2 Tim 3:16)and in Hebrews it says it is full of living power (Heb 4:12)

We are looking to rise up with the word of God in hand and live a Bible Believing Lifestyle! Jesus said “You are my disciples if you obey my teachings. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.!.” John 8:31

As a church we need to provide an opportunity for everyone whatever their age or understanding to discover the word of God in a clear and understandable way.

We want to do that by producing an effective enjoyable teaching program that is accessible and understandable to every individual.

We have many discovery programs at the church which include Alpha Courses, Freedom in Christ, Baptismal Classes, Necomers Lunches, New partners Evenings, Gateway to Destiny Programme, Riverside Bible School and our many Life groups located all around the City of Exeter and beyond.

So whatever your level of learning is, Riverside has a place for you!

Faith Driven Lifestyle

Paul wrote without faith it is impossible to please God. (Heb 11:6)

Something special happens in church life when we become dependant on Him and discover a trust for each other. It’s the best way to live so let’s live a life pleasing to God as we live a Faith Driven Lifestyle together

As a church we need to provide an environment in which everyone’s individual faith is encouraged and challenged.

We want to do that by modelling inspirational leadership through our lifestyle and every program that is run by the Church.

You will be encouraged to discover your gifting given to you by God and where that gift fits into the life of the local church through our Gateway to Destiny Programme. This programme consists of a series of interactive lectures, a process of strength/gift identification and analysis which will is followed up by an informal interview with one of the experienced course leaders. You will the be encouraged to become active in the ministry of the church.

There is a place for everyone to get involved so that you can learn to serve God, each other and your community.

Spirit Led Lifestyle

We believe in the Power of the Holy Spirit. Spiritual gifts and the speaking in tongues are just as important and present today as they were in the early church.
Every believer should live a Spirit Led Lifestyle, allowing the Holy Spirit to lead, guide and be part of every area of our lives. Jesus said: When the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power and will tell people about me everywhere! (Acts 1:8) It is time for the Church to become familiar with the work and personality of the Holy Spirit. The fruit of the Holy Spirit demonstrated through character is expected and the use of spiritual gifts in the life of the church will be encouraged.

Prayer Fuelled Lifestyle

Prayer fuels the fire of a Great move of God which is so need in Great Britain and around the world so lets all join as one church and decide to live a Prayer Fuelled Lifestyle together and make a difference. James says: The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results (James 5:16)

As a church we want Prayer to be a major focus in everything that we do. Nothing should be done or agreed to be done without spending time in prayer looking for the guidance of God.

Prayer will be encouraged within every department and a prayer strategy has been introduced into the church which includes 24-7 prayer, monthly prayer meeting and the development of a prayer team.

Prayer is such a high priority with the house we have designed a fantastic designated area for prayer which is always available.

It’s the responsibility of every individual to develop their own personal relationship with God through prayer.
